📋 Arkansas Homeschool Requirements

Arkansas is a homeschool-friendly state with reasonable requirements for families. The state recognizes homeschooling as a legitimate educational option with clear guidelines that protect parental rights.

📝 Notification

Parents must file a Notice of Intent with the Arkansas Department of Education each year by August 15th for the upcoming school year.

📅 Attendance

Students ages 5-17 must receive instruction for at least 178 days per school year, with at least 6 hours per day for grades 1-12 and 4 hours for kindergarten.

📚 Subjects

Core subjects include language arts, mathematics, social studies (including civics, history, geography, and economics), career focus, and fine arts. Health and physical education or physical fitness are also required.

Students must take a nationally recognized norm-referenced test annually or undergo evaluation by a certified teacher. Parents may also choose portfolio review by a certified teacher.
