Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse science adventure! Last time, we learned about our amazing ears. Today, we'll explore how our hands help us understand the world around us.

💭 Review Question: Can you remember what body part helps us hear sounds?
2Teaching (5 min)

Our hands are special tools God gave us to feel and understand different textures. Some things feel soft like a bunny, some feel rough like tree bark, and some feel smooth like a polished stone.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • God made our hands with special nerves that help us feel
  • Textures can be soft, rough, smooth, or bumpy
  • Our sense of touch helps us learn about the world
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What is the softest thing you've ever touched?
  • Can you show me something rough in our room?
3Activity: Texture Treasure Collage (6 min)
sensory

Create a collage exploring different textures using fabric and cardboard

📝 Instructions:
  1. Collect different textured fabric pieces
  2. Feel each piece and describe its texture
  3. Glue fabric pieces onto cardboard
  4. Label textures with parent's help
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Use fewer fabric pieces, focus on 2-3 textures

Challenge: Blindfold child and guess textures by touch

4Closing (3 min)

Review textures discovered and thank God for giving us amazing hands

📝 Review Questions:
  • What textures did we find today?
  • How do our hands help us learn?

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll become sound detectives and explore different noises!
