Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse science adventure! Yesterday we learned about activities during day and night. Today we'll discover WHY day and night happen!

💭 Review Question: What do we do during daytime? What do we do at nighttime?
2Teaching (5 min)

Our beautiful Earth spins like a big ball, which creates day and night. When one side faces the sun, it's daytime. When that side turns away, it becomes nighttime.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Earth is always spinning
  • Spinning makes day and night happen
  • God designed this amazing system
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • Can you spin like the Earth?
  • What happens when you turn away from the light?
3Activity: Globe and Flashlight Day/Night Demonstration (6 min)
hands-on

Use globe and flashlight to show Earth's rotation

📝 Instructions:
  1. Hold globe steady
  2. Shine flashlight on one side
  3. Slowly turn globe to show day and night
  4. Let child take turns spinning and holding flashlight
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Parent does demonstration while child watches

Challenge: Child explains rotation process while demonstrating

4Closing (3 min)

Review how Earth spins to make day and night

📝 Review Questions:
  • What makes day and night happen?
  • Who created this amazing system?

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll learn more about how God made day and night!
