Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse science adventure! Let's remember how we explored movement in our last lesson.

💭 Review Question: What different ways did we see things move yesterday?
2Teaching (5 min)

Today, we're discovering how sounds are made. Sounds come from something called vibrations - tiny movements that make noise!

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Put your hand on your throat while talking - can you feel the vibrations?
  • When we tap a drum, the surface moves back and forth quickly
  • Different objects make different sounds when they vibrate
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What sounds can you hear right now?
  • Can you make a sound with something in the room?
3Activity: Vibration Sound Makers (6 min)
exploration

Explore how different objects create sounds through vibrations

📝 Instructions:
  1. Tap a drum or empty container and feel the vibrations
  2. Stretch a rubber band and pluck it to hear the sound
  3. Shake bells and listen to how they make noise
  4. Gently tap different objects and notice their unique sounds
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Focus on tapping and shaking one or two objects

Challenge: Try to create a simple rhythm with different sound makers

4Closing (3 min)

Let's remember how God gives us the amazing ability to hear sounds!

📝 Review Questions:
  • What did we learn about how sounds are made?
  • Can you show me how something vibrates to make a sound?

Coming up: Tomorrow, we'll explore how some sounds are loud and some are soft!

💡 Teaching Tips:
  • Use gentle, encouraging language
  • Let child explore and experiment
  • Demonstrate vibrations before asking child to try
🤔 Common Struggles:

Children might find it hard to understand the concept of vibrations

👀 Signs of Understanding:

Child attempting to feel vibrations, showing curiosity about sounds

Extension Activities

  • Use BibleMouse Printables Library for sound-related coloring pages
  • Sing a song from the BibleMouse Song Collection about praising God with music
