Joshua 6:20

So the people shouted, and the priests blew the trumpets. When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout, and the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Remind children about our recent music lessons about stopping and starting. Ask, 'Can you remember how we froze during our dance yesterday?'

2Teaching (5 min)

Today, we'll hear an amazing Bible story about listening carefully and following instructions!

Build a wall with blocks, then act out Joshua's story with music and movement

  1. Build a 'wall' with blocks or cushions
  2. Walk quietly around the wall six times
  3. On the seventh time, shout and 'knock down' the wall
  4. Use rhythm sticks or drums to make music

Simpler: Help child walk around wall and knock it down

Challenge: Let child lead the activity and give instructions

Recap the story and how God helps us when we listen carefully
