Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse math adventure! Let's review what we learned about comparing groups yesterday.

💭 Review Question: Can you show me how we know which group has fewer objects?
2Teaching (5 min)

Today we'll explore groups that have the SAME number of objects. Just like God loves fairness, we want to make sure our groups are equal!

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Some groups look different but have the same number of things
  • We can match objects one-by-one to see if they're the same
  • Equal means 'just the same' in math
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • Can you find two groups with the same number of bears?
  • How can we check if groups are the same?
3Activity: Bear Matching Game (6 min)
hands-on

Students create equal groups using counting bears

📝 Instructions:
  1. Take red and blue counting bears
  2. Make one group of red bears
  3. Create a matching blue bear group
  4. Count to check they're the same!
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Parent helps match bears directly

Challenge: Create groups with 4-5 bears instead of 2-3

4Closing (3 min)

Let's celebrate our math discovery about SAME groups!

📝 Review Questions:
  • What did we learn about equal groups?
  • Can you show me a group that's the same as another?

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll learn about sharing things fairly in our BibleMouse math adventure!
