Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse math adventure! Let's review our sorting skills from yesterday.

💭 Review Question: Can you remember how we sorted things by color yesterday?
2Teaching (5 min)

Today, we're going to turn our sorting into a special picture graph! A graph helps us show information in a fun, visual way.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Graphs help us see how things are grouped
  • We can use stickers to make our graph colorful
  • Each column shows a different group
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What colors do you see around us?
  • Can you help me sort these objects?
3Activity: Sticker Graph Adventure (6 min)
hands-on

Create a colorful picture graph using stickers to show different groups of objects

📝 Instructions:
  1. Choose 3-4 different colored objects
  2. Sort objects into groups on sorting mats
  3. Create columns on poster board
  4. Place stickers to represent each group
  5. Count how many stickers are in each column
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Use fewer colors and help child place stickers

Challenge: Let child create entire graph independently

4Closing (3 min)

Let's look at our beautiful graph and count together!

📝 Review Questions:
  • What colors did we use?
  • Which column has the most stickers?

Coming up: Tomorrow, we'll learn how to compare our graph groups!
