Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse art adventure! Remember how we made prints with potatoes and found objects this week? Today, we'll turn those prints into a beautiful pattern!

💭 Review Question: What fun objects did we use to make prints yesterday?
2Teaching (7 min)

Patterns are special designs that repeat over and over. Just like God creates beautiful patterns in nature, we can create patterns in our art!

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Patterns have a repeating design
  • We can use different objects to make prints
  • Each print can be a special part of our design
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • Can you find patterns in nature?
  • What shapes do you see around you?
3Activity: Pattern Print Playground (8 min)
hands-on

Create a colorful pattern print using multiple objects

📝 Instructions:
  1. Put on your smock
  2. Choose 2-3 printing objects
  3. Dip objects in different paint colors
  4. Press objects onto paper to create a repeating pattern
  5. Leave space between prints
  6. Let your artwork dry
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Use fewer printing objects and one paint color

Challenge: Create a more complex pattern with multiple colors and objects

4Closing (3 min)

Let's look at our beautiful patterns! Can you tell me about the shapes and colors you used?

📝 Review Questions:
  • What makes a pattern special?
  • What objects did you use to make prints?

Coming up: Tomorrow, we'll make paper chains and explore connecting shapes!
