Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse art adventure! Let's explore how things can look the same on both sides.

💭 Review Question: Can you show me something that looks the same on both sides?
2Teaching (7 min)

Symmetry means when one side is a perfect mirror of the other side. Like a butterfly's wings!

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Look in the mirror - your face is almost the same on both sides
  • Some shapes and designs can be split right down the middle
  • God made many things with beautiful balance
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What things in nature look the same on both sides?
  • Can you find symmetry in our room?
3Activity: Symmetry Drawing Game (8 min)
hands-on

Draw half a design, then use a mirror to complete it!

📝 Instructions:
  1. Fold paper in half
  2. Draw half a shape on one side
  3. Use mirror to see how the other side would look
  4. Unfold and complete the symmetrical design
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Draw simple shapes like hearts or flowers

Challenge: Create more complex symmetrical creatures

4Closing (3 min)

Let's share our symmetrical artwork and remember how wonderfully God designs things!
