Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Gather around and look at yesterday's dream house drawings. Remind children how we've been learning about different types of houses.

💭 Review Question: What special features did you add to your dream house yesterday?
2Teaching (7 min)

Today, we'll create a neighborhood by drawing houses side by side. Just like people live together in communities, we'll make a street full of houses.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Houses can look different but still be part of the same neighborhood
  • We'll use simple shapes like rectangles and triangles
  • Each house can have its own special details
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What do you see in your neighborhood?
  • How are houses similar or different?
3Activity: Neighborhood Street Drawing (8 min)
hands-on

Draw a street with multiple houses using basic shapes

📝 Instructions:
  1. Draw a horizontal line for the street
  2. Create 3-4 houses side by side
  3. Add windows, doors, and roofs
  4. Color your houses with different colors
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Draw 2-3 houses with parent helping to draw basic shapes

Challenge: Add details like trees, cars, or people in the neighborhood

4Closing (3 min)

Share our neighborhood street drawings and talk about how each house is unique

📝 Review Questions:
  • What makes your houses special?
