  • Circular blocks (for comparison)
  • Large floor mat or play area

Recap yesterday's lesson about square shapes and four corners

💭 Review Question: Can you show me four corners with your fingers?
2Teaching (5 min)

Introduce square blocks and demonstrate their unique properties

  • Look at these square blocks - see how they have four sides?
  • Watch what happens when we roll a square block and a round block
  • Squares stay put, but round blocks roll away!

Build towers and compare square and circular blocks

  1. Spread blocks on the floor
  2. Try building a tower with square blocks

  4. Compare to round blocks that might roll away
