Genesis 1:24-25

β€œGod said, 'Let the earth produce living creatures after their kind, livestock, creeping things, and animals of the earth after their kind;' and it was so. God made the animals of the earth after their kind, and the livestock after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind. God saw that it was good.”

β€” Genesis 1:24-25 (WEB)

This passage shows us that God purposefully created all the amazing animals we see, including the big, strong jungle animals we're learning about today.

πŸ“¦ Materials Needed

  • animal picture cards (lion, elephant, monkey, zebra)
  • open space for movement
  • optional: animal toys if available

Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse lesson! Yesterday we learned about fuzzy farm friends like cows and sheep. Today we're going on a jungle adventure to meet some very special animals that God made - big, strong jungle animals! Can you make a loud ROAR like a lion? Let's roar together!

πŸ’ Review Question: What farm animals did we learn about yesterday that God made?
2Teaching (5 min)

Let's read from God's special book, the Bible! 'God said, Let the earth produce living creatures... God made the animals of the earth... God saw that it was good.' God made ALL the animals - even the biggest, strongest ones in the jungle! Show your child each animal picture card as you talk about them.

πŸ“Œ Key Talking Points:
  • Lions are big cats with loud roars - God made them strong and brave!
  • Elephants are HUGE with long trunks - God made them the biggest land animals!
  • Monkeys swing from trees and chatter - God made them playful and quick!
  • Zebras have beautiful black and white stripes - God painted each one perfectly!
πŸ’¬ Discussion Questions:
  • Which jungle animal do you think is the biggest?
  • What sound does a lion make?
  • How do you think monkeys move through the trees?
3Activity: Jungle Animal Safari (6 min)
movement

We're going on a jungle safari to move and sound like each amazing animal God made! Parent will call out each animal and demonstrate the movements, then child copies.

πŸ“ Instructions:
  1. Lions: Get on hands and knees, crawl proudly, and ROAR loudly like the king of the jungle
  2. Elephants: Stand up, swing one arm like a trunk, stomp heavily, and make trumpet sounds
  3. Monkeys: Jump around, scratch under arms, swing arms, and make 'ooh ooh ah ah' sounds
  4. Zebras: Gallop around the room, toss head like a horse, and make neighing sounds
  5. End with 'Animal Parade' - march around making all the sounds together!
πŸ”„ Variations:

Simpler: Focus on just two animals (lion and elephant) with simpler movements and sounds

Challenge: Add more jungle animals like tigers, giraffes, or parrots, or create an obstacle course 'jungle path'

4Closing (3 min)

What an amazing jungle adventure! God made all these incredible animals - big, strong, and wonderful! Let's practice our memory verse one more time with our favorite jungle animal voice, then thank God for His amazing creations.

πŸ“ Review Questions:
  • What big jungle animals did God make?
  • Which animal was your favorite to pretend to be?
πŸ™ Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for making such amazing jungle animals! Lions and elephants and monkeys and zebras are all so special. You are so creative and good! Amen.

Coming up: Tomorrow in our BibleMouse lesson, we'll learn about how God loves and takes care of ALL the animals He made!

Genesis 1:1

β€œGod made everything!”

β€” Genesis 1:1 (WEB)

🎯 Activity: Practice the memory verse by acting it out - point up to God when saying 'God,' spread arms wide for 'everything,' and clap on 'made.' Repeat 3 times with jungle animal voices (lion roar, monkey chatter, elephant trumpet).

Teaching Notes

πŸ“š Background:

At this age, children are naturally drawn to animal movements and sounds. This lesson combines their love of pretend play with learning about God's creativity. The jungle animals chosen represent different types of movement that are fun and manageable for preschoolers.

πŸ’‘ Teaching Tips:
  • Be enthusiastic with your own animal movements - your excitement will be contagious!
  • Don't worry about perfect movements - focus on fun and participation
  • Use the animal picture cards throughout the activity to help visual learners
πŸ€” Common Struggles:

Some children may be hesitant to make loud animal sounds or big movements. Start quietly and build up, or let them just watch at first.

πŸ‘€ Signs of Understanding:

Child attempts animal movements, makes some animal sounds, shows excitement about the animals, and connects that God made them

Extension Activities

  • Look through the BibleMouse Resource Guide for additional jungle animal coloring pages and activities
  • Read a simple book about jungle animals from your BibleMouse Read-Aloud Library recommendations
  • Create jungle animal art using construction paper - make zebra stripes or elephant ears
