Genesis 1:24-25

β€œGod said, 'Let the earth produce living creatures after their kind, livestock, creeping things, and animals of the earth after their kind;' and it was so. God made the animals of the earth after their kind, and the livestock after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind. God saw that it was good.”

β€” Genesis 1:24-25 (WEB)

This passage shows us that God specifically created livestock and farm animals, and He was pleased with His creation of these special creatures.

Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse lesson! Let's start by remembering what we learned yesterday about God's flying birdies. Today we're going to discover some very special fuzzy friends that God made to live on farms!

πŸ’ Review Question: Can you flap your wings like the birdies God made yesterday?
2Teaching (5 min)

Show your child the farm animal pictures or toys as you teach. God made so many wonderful animals! Some of His animals live on farms where people take care of them. Let's meet our fuzzy farm friends! God made cows that say 'moo' and give us milk. He made fluffy sheep that say 'baa' and have soft wool. God made strong horses that say 'neigh' and can run fast. He also made pigs that say 'oink' and love to roll in mud!

πŸ“Œ Key Talking Points:
  • God made each farm animal special and different
  • Farm animals help people in different ways
  • God saw that His farm animals were good
πŸ’¬ Discussion Questions:
  • What sound does a cow make?
  • Which farm animal is the fluffiest?
  • How do you think God feels about the animals He made?
3Activity: Fluffy Sheep Craft (6 min)
hands-on

Your BibleMouse curriculum includes this delightful craft to help your little one remember that God made sheep with special fluffy wool! Together, you'll create a adorable cotton ball sheep while talking about how God designed each farm animal perfectly.

πŸ“ Instructions:
  1. Help your child draw a simple sheep outline on construction paper (or use a template from the BibleMouse Printables Library)
  2. Show your child how to pull apart cotton balls to make them extra fluffy
  3. Let your child glue cotton balls all over the sheep's body, covering the paper
  4. Draw or help your child draw a simple face on the sheep
  5. Practice saying 'baa baa' like the sheep God made!
πŸ”„ Variations:

Simpler: Pre-draw the sheep outline and help guide little hands with the gluing process

Challenge: Encourage child to count the cotton balls or sort them by size before gluing

4Closing (3 min)

Look at your beautiful fluffy sheep! God made real sheep just as special as your craft. Let's thank God for making all our fuzzy farm friends. Tomorrow in our BibleMouse lesson, we'll discover some amazing jungle animals that God made - they're big, strong, and incredible!

πŸ“ Review Questions:
  • What farm animals did God make today?
  • Which one was your favorite fuzzy friend?
πŸ™ Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for making cows, sheep, horses, and pigs. Thank You that each farm animal is special. Help us remember that You made everything! Amen.

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll learn about roaring lions and big elephants that God made for the jungle!

Genesis 1:1

β€œGod made everything!”

β€” Genesis 1:1 (WEB)

🎯 Activity: Practice the memory verse while making farm animal sounds: 'God made everything!' (moo like a cow), 'God made everything!' (baa like a sheep), continuing with different farm animal sounds each time.

Teaching Notes

πŸ“š Background:

Farm animals were among the livestock God created on the sixth day. These animals have been companions to humans throughout history, providing food, clothing, and help with work. This lesson helps children see God's intentional design in creating animals that benefit people.

πŸ’‘ Teaching Tips:
  • Use lots of animal sounds and movements to keep your child engaged
  • Let your child touch and explore the cotton balls before the craft - sensory play is important at this age
πŸ€” Common Struggles:

Some children may want to eat the cotton balls or may get overwhelmed with the gluing process

πŸ‘€ Signs of Understanding:

Watch for your child making connections between the animal sounds and the animals, and showing excitement about God making these creatures

Extension Activities

  • Visit a local farm or petting zoo this week to see real farm animals
  • Check out farm animal books from your library - the BibleMouse Resource Guide for Grade PK3 Bible has a recommended reading list
  • Sing 'Old MacDonald Had a Farm' focusing on how God made each animal special

Ready for Tomorrow?

Great job completing today's lesson!
