Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse lesson! Let's start by looking in our special mirror. What do you see? I see [child's name]! Last week we learned that God gives good gifts and made everything good. Today we'll discover something wonderful - God knows your name!

πŸ’ Review Question: What good things did God make for Adam and Eve?
2Teaching (5 min)

God is so amazing! He made the whole world, all the stars, all the animals, and all the people. But do you know what's really special? Even though there are so many people in the world, God knows YOUR name! He knows [child's name]. He knows everything about you - what makes you happy, what makes you sad, and how much He loves you!

πŸ“Œ Key Talking Points:
  • God made everyone in the whole world
  • God knows each person's name
  • God knows everything about you because He loves you
πŸ’¬ Discussion Questions:
  • What is your name?
  • Who else knows your name?
  • How does it feel to know God knows your name?
3Activity: Name Game with God (6 min)
discussion

Using the mirror and heart cutouts, we'll have a special conversation about how God knows and loves each child by name.

πŸ“ Instructions:
  1. Hold up the mirror and have your child look at themselves while you say 'God knows [child's name]!'
  2. Give your child a heart cutout and help them put stickers on it while talking about how God's love is just for them
  3. Take turns saying each family member's name and 'God knows [name]!' Make it joyful and celebratory
  4. Let your child hold their decorated heart and look in the mirror again, reminding them that God knows their name and loves them
πŸ”„ Variations:

Simpler: Just focus on the child's own name with lots of repetition and celebration

Challenge: Talk about how God knows other details about them - their favorite color, toy, or food

4Closing (3 min)

What a wonderful truth we learned today! God, who made everything, knows your name and loves you so much. Let's thank Him for knowing us and loving us.

πŸ“ Review Questions:
  • Does God know your name?
  • Who made you?
πŸ™ Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for knowing [child's name] and loving them so much. Help them remember that You always know their name. Amen.

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll learn about how God made you wonderful and special!

Genesis 1:1

β€œGod made everything!”

β€” Genesis 1:1 (WEB)

🎯 Activity: Point to different things around the room and say 'God made that!' Then clap and say the verse together. Make it a fun game by letting your child pick what to point to next!

Teaching Notes

πŸ“š Background:

At this age, children are just learning about their own identity and the permanence of relationships. Knowing that God knows their name personally helps establish their sense of being loved and valued. This builds on last week's lessons about God's goodness and care.

πŸ’‘ Teaching Tips:
  • Use your child's name frequently during the lesson
  • Make it very personal and celebratory
  • If your child is shy, don't force them to speak - model the responses
πŸ€” Common Struggles:

Some children this age may not fully grasp the concept of God knowing everyone's name. Focus on the personal aspect - God knows THEIR name specifically.

πŸ‘€ Signs of Understanding:

Child responds when you say their name, shows excitement about being known by God, or attempts to say 'God knows my name'

Extension Activities

  • Look through family photos and say 'God knows [person's name]' for each family member
  • Check out the BibleMouse Resource Guide for additional name-themed activities and songs that reinforce this concept throughout the week

Ready for Tomorrow?
