β€” Genesis 3:8 (WEB)

This verse shows us that God used to walk in the garden with Adam and Eve. They could hear His voice and spend time with Him like friends do!

πŸ“¦ Materials Needed

  • open space for walking
  • toy garden items from this week's materials
  • green paper (optional for pathway)

Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse lesson! Yesterday we learned about the beautiful garden God made for Adam and Eve. Let's pretend to smell the pretty flowers and pick some fruit like they did! Today we'll discover something very special - Adam and Eve didn't just live in the garden, they had the most wonderful friend who came to visit them every day!

πŸ’ Review Question: What beautiful things did God put in Adam and Eve's garden home?
2Teaching (5 min)

In the beautiful garden, something amazing happened every day! God would come walking in the garden, and Adam and Eve would walk with Him! They were friends! They could talk to God and God talked to them. Can you imagine having God as your friend who comes to walk with you every day? That's exactly what happened! The Bible tells us they could hear God's voice in the garden.

πŸ“Œ Key Talking Points:
  • Adam and Eve were God's special friends
  • God came to walk and talk with them in the garden
  • They weren't afraid of God - He was their loving friend
πŸ’¬ Discussion Questions:
  • Who likes to take walks with mommy or daddy?
  • What do you like to talk about when you walk with someone special?
3Activity: Garden Walking with God (6 min)
movement

We're going to pretend to be Adam and Eve walking with God in the beautiful garden! Parent will be God's voice, and child will walk around like they're in the garden.

πŸ“ Instructions:
  1. Set up toy garden items around the room or lay green paper as a pathway
  2. Parent says 'Adam and Eve, let's walk together!' in a gentle, loving voice
  3. Child walks slowly around the 'garden' while parent walks beside them
  4. Parent asks simple questions like 'What beautiful flowers do you see?' or 'Which animals are your favorites?'
  5. Child responds and continues walking, stopping to 'smell flowers' or 'pet animals'
  6. End by sitting together and parent saying 'I love spending time with you in our garden!'
πŸ”„ Variations:

Simpler: Just walk hand-in-hand around the room, pointing to things and saying 'God made this!' Keep talking to a minimum.

Challenge: Add more conversation, have child 'show God' different parts of the garden, or act out caring for the garden together.

4Closing (3 min)

What a wonderful time Adam and Eve had walking with God! God loved them so much, and they loved Him too. The amazing thing is that God wants to be our friend today too! We can talk to Him anytime through prayer, just like Adam and Eve talked with Him in the garden.

πŸ“ Review Questions:
  • Who came to walk with Adam and Eve in the garden?
  • Were Adam and Eve friends with God?
πŸ™ Prayer:

Dear God, thank You that Adam and Eve could be Your friends. Thank You that You want to be our friend too. Help us remember that we can talk to You anytime. Amen.

Coming up: Tomorrow in our BibleMouse lesson, we'll learn about how God brought all the animals to Adam, and Adam got to give each one a special name!

Genesis 1:1

β€œGod made everything!”

β€” Genesis 1:1 (WEB)

🎯 Activity: Walk around the room while saying the verse. Stop and point to different things God made (window for sky, toy animals, flowers) and repeat 'God made everything!' with excitement and clapping.

Teaching Notes

πŸ“š Background:

This lesson focuses on the intimate relationship Adam and Eve had with God before sin entered the world. At this age, emphasize God as a loving friend rather than focusing on the later separation that occurred after disobedience.

πŸ’‘ Teaching Tips:
  • Use a gentle, warm voice when representing God to show His loving nature
  • Keep the walking pace slow and comfortable for little legs
πŸ€” Common Struggles:

Some children may have difficulty understanding how people can talk to God. Keep it simple and concrete - just like they talk to you!

πŸ‘€ Signs of Understanding:

Child engages in the walking activity and shows understanding that God and Adam/Eve were friends

Extension Activities

  • Take a real nature walk outside and talk about how God walks with us today, pointing out things He made
  • Check your BibleMouse Resource Guide for additional garden-themed activities and the BibleMouse Song Collection for friendship songs about God
