Welcome to today's BibleMouse lesson! Show excitement as you hold up the baby doll. 'Look who we get to learn about today! It's baby Jesus!' Sing a simple 'Hello, Baby Jesus' song while gently rocking the doll.
In today's BibleMouse lesson, we're going to learn about the most wonderful night ever! Baby Jesus was finally born! Mary had been waiting and waiting, and now her precious baby was here. The Bible tells us in Luke 2:7 that Mary 'wrapped him in bands of cloth.' Show the soft cloth and demonstrate wrapping the baby doll gently.
Children will practice the gentle, loving care that Mary showed baby Jesus by wrapping the baby doll in soft cloths and laying Him in a makeshift manger, just like Mary did on that first Christmas night.
Simpler: Focus only on wrapping the baby in the cloth with lots of help and praise for gentle touches
Challenge: Have child tell you the story while doing the actions, or let them 'teach' a stuffed animal how to be gentle with baby Jesus
Gather around your makeshift nativity scene and practice the memory verse one more time. Thank God for sending baby Jesus and talk about how tomorrow we'll learn about Jesus' very first bed!
Dear God, thank You for sending baby Jesus to us. Help us remember to be gentle and loving just like Mary was with baby Jesus. Amen.
Coming up: Tomorrow in our BibleMouse lesson, we'll discover what Mary used for Jesus' very first bed - it wasn't what you might expect!
βA Savior is born!β
β Luke 2:11 (WEB)π― Activity: Hold the baby doll high like you're announcing good news and say 'A Savior is born!' Then gently rock the baby while whispering the verse softly. Practice both the loud, joyful way and the quiet, gentle way!
This lesson focuses on the tender, nurturing aspect of Jesus' birth. At age 3, children are learning gentleness and care, making this a perfect opportunity to connect biblical truth with character development. The swaddling cloths mentioned in Scripture were common practice for newborns in that time, providing security and warmth.
Some children may be too rough with the doll or not understand the concept of 'gentle.' Model the behavior repeatedly and guide their hands if needed.
Watch for your child using gentle movements, showing care for the baby doll, and making connections between Mary's care and how we should treat others
