To every animal of the earth, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food.' And it was so.

1Opening (3 min)

Let's explore how different animals get their food! In our BibleMouse lesson today, we'll discover the amazing ways God created animals to eat.

💭 Review Question: What different ways did animals move that we learned about yesterday?
2Teaching (8 min)

Some animals eat only plants (herbivores), some eat only meat (carnivores), and some eat both plants and meat (omnivores)!

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Herbivores: Animals like rabbits and deer that eat plants
  • Carnivores: Animals like lions and wolves that eat meat
  • Omnivores: Animals like bears and humans that eat both
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What animals do you know that eat plants?
  • Can you think of an animal that eats meat?
3Activity: Animal Diet Sorting Game (10 min)
hands-on

Sort animal pictures into herbivore, carnivore, and omnivore categories

📝 Instructions:
  1. Spread out sorting mats with three sections
  2. Give each child animal pictures
  3. Help them place pictures in correct diet sections
  4. Discuss why each animal goes in its section
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Use fewer animal pictures

Challenge: Have child explain why each animal belongs in its category

4Closing (3 min)

Let's remember how God carefully designed each animal to eat exactly what it needs!

📝 Review Questions:
  • What are the three types of animal diets?
