Gather in a circle and sing a welcome song about words and sounds. Explain that today we'll be like word builders, adding sounds to create new words!
Demonstrate how adding one sound can change a word completely. Show examples like 'at' becomes 'cat' or 'run' becomes 'runt'.
Children work in pairs to build words by adding sounds using letter tiles
