1 Kings 19:11-12

Yahweh passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains, and broke the rocks in pieces before Yahweh; but Yahweh was not in the wind. After the wind, an earthquake; but Yahweh was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake, a fire; but Yahweh was not in the fire. After the fire, there was a still small voice.

Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Introduce the BibleMouse Music Adventure of the day: exploring how we can use our voices in different ways

2Teaching (7 min)

Explain loud (forte) and soft (piano) sounds using biblical storytelling

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • God created all kinds of sounds - from thunder to gentle whispers
  • Our voices can be loud like a shout or soft like a whisper

💬 Discussion Questions:
  • Can you think of loud sounds in nature?
  • What are some soft sounds you hear at home?
3Activity: Whisper and Shout Scripture Game (8 min)
vocal exploration

Use scarves to demonstrate sound levels while reciting Bible verses

📝 Instructions:
  1. Hold a scarf high and shout a verse loudly
  2. Hold the scarf close to your mouth and whisper the same verse
  3. Take turns being the 'sound leader'
  4. Listen carefully to match the volume
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Parent leads, child follows

Challenge: Children create their own volume signals

4Closing (3 min)

Recap how we can use our voices to praise God

📝 Review Questions:
  • What are loud sounds?
  • What are soft sounds?

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll play a volume control game with musical instruments!
