Measurement: Length
Arrange 3-5 objects from shortest to longest
Use comparative language: short, shorter, shortest, long, longer, longest
Develop patience and careful observation skills
“She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her.”
— Proverbs 3:15 (WEB)Just as we carefully order things by length, wisdom requires careful comparison and valuing
Welcome to today's BibleMouse math adventure! Yesterday we learned about comparing two objects - today we'll order multiple objects by length!
Today we'll practice putting things in order from shortest to longest, just like arranging friends from smallest to tallest!
Students will arrange 5-6 paper strips or ribbons from shortest to longest
Simpler: Use only 3 strips instead of 5-6
Challenge: Time the student or add more strips to order
Let's review what we learned about ordering by length!
Coming up: Tomorrow we'll use linking cubes to measure object lengths!
Ordering by length is a foundational spatial reasoning skill
Children might get frustrated if strips look very similar
Careful comparison and willingness to rearrange
