Welcome to today's BibleMouse math adventure! Let's review what we learned about patterns yesterday.

💭 Review Question: Can you show me a pattern you remember from our last lesson?
2Teaching (8 min)

Today we'll explore how numbers have 'neighbors' - the numbers right next to them on a number line.

  • Every number has friends right next to it
  • One more means the next number up
  • One less means the number just before

  • What comes right after 5?
  • What number comes just before 8?
3Activity: Number Neighbor Hunt (10 min)

Students will use counters to find number neighbors on a number line

📝 Instructions:
  1. Choose a number card between 1-20
  2. Place that many counters on the number line
  3. Find the counter that is one more
  4. Find the counter that is one less
  5. Say the number relationships out loud
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Use numbers 1-10 only

Challenge: Use numbers up to 20 and find two more/two less
