Learning Objectives

1

Understand that God confused languages to stop prideful building

2

Recognize that God wants people to trust Him, not themselves

3

Learn to listen and follow directions carefully

Genesis 11:7-8

Come, let's go down, and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. So Yahweh scattered them abroad from there on the surface of all the earth, and they stopped building the city.

Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

In today's BibleMouse lesson, we'll learn how God stopped a big building project because people were being proud

💭 Review Question: What did we learn about the people's big tower yesterday?
2Teaching (7 min)

God saw the people trying to build a tower to make themselves famous instead of honoring Him

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • People wanted to be the most important
  • God knew their hearts were proud
  • God confused their language so they couldn't understand each other
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • Why do you think God stopped them?
  • What happens when we try to do things without listening to God?
3Activity: Babel Blocks Communication (8 min)
game

A fun game to demonstrate language confusion

📝 Instructions:
  1. Divide family into two groups
  2. Each group gets different 'language' instructions (using stickers or hand signals)
  3. Try to build a tower together without speaking normally
  4. See how hard it is to work when you can't understand each other!
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Use only hand signals to build

Challenge: Add more complex building requirements

4Closing (3 min)

Review what we learned about God's plan and listening to Him

📝 Review Questions:
  • What did God do to stop the tower building?
  • Why is it important to trust God?
🙏 Prayer:

Dear God, help us to listen to You and not be proud

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll learn how people spread across the earth

Proverbs 16:18

Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

Proverbs 16:18 (WEB)

🎯 Activity: Tower Tumble Memory Verse Game: Build a block tower while saying each word of the verse. If the tower falls before completing the verse, start over!
