Jesus is Born!
Understand that Jesus was born in humble circumstances
Recognize God's special plan for Jesus's birth
Develop compassion for others who might feel unwelcome
“While they were there, the days were fulfilled that she should give birth. She gave birth to her firstborn son, and she wrapped him in strips of cloth, and laid him in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in the inn.”
— Luke 2:6-7 (WEB)Demonstrates God's plan unfolding through humble beginnings
Welcome to today's BibleMouse lesson! Yesterday, we learned about Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem. Today, we'll discover what happened when they arrived.
When Mary and Joseph arrived in Bethlehem, the town was very crowded. Everyone had come to be counted for the census. The BibleMouse curriculum helps us understand that God had a special plan, even when things seemed difficult.
Children will act out the story of no room at the inn, using a cardboard 'inn' and a baby doll
Simpler: Use fewer children, focus on basic movements
Challenge: Add more detailed dialogue
Even when things seem difficult, God has a perfect plan
Dear God, thank You that You are always with us, even when things seem hard.
Coming up: Tomorrow, we'll learn about the stable where Jesus was born!
“She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.”
— Matthew 1:21 (WEB)🎯 Activity: Jesus Name Game: Children stand and sit each time they hear 'Jesus' in the verse
This lesson helps children understand God's providence even in challenging circumstances
Young children might find it hard to understand historical context
