📦 Materials Needed

  • Science journal
  • Pencil
  • Magnifying glass
  • Various natural objects (leaves, rocks, pinecones)
  • BibleMouse Science Resource Guide

Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

Welcome to our first BibleMouse science adventure! Today we're becoming 'Detectives of Creation'.

💭 Review Question: What does it mean to be a scientist?
2Teaching (15 min)

Scientists are like detectives who investigate how God's world works. They ask questions, make observations, and try to understand creation's amazing details.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Scientists observe carefully
  • Scientists ask questions
  • Scientists use tools to help them investigate
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What tools might scientists use?
  • How can we be like scientists in exploring God's world?
3Activity: Creation Detective Challenge (15 min)
hands-on observation

Students will use magnifying glasses to closely examine natural objects, recording detailed observations in their science journals

📝 Instructions:
  1. Choose a natural object
  2. Use your magnifying glass to look closely
  3. Draw and describe what you see in your journal
  4. Share one interesting discovery with the group
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Focus on one object with parent guidance

Challenge: Compare and contrast multiple objects, note similarities and differences

4Closing (5 min)

Review our discoveries and praise God for the intricate details in His creation

📝 Review Questions:
  • What surprised you about your object?
  • How does looking closely help us appreciate God's design?

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll learn how to turn our curiosity into scientific questions!

Teaching Notes
