Rocks: Earth's Building Blocks
Identify and describe at least 3 properties of rocks
Use scientific observation skills to examine rock samples
Appreciate God's creativity in rock formation
“As for the earth, out of it comes bread; underneath it is turned up as it were fire. Its stones are the place of sapphires, and it has dust of gold.”
— Job 28:5-6 (WEB)Demonstrates God's incredible design in rock formation and the hidden treasures within the earth
Welcome to today's BibleMouse science adventure! Last week, we discovered how fossils tell stories about Earth's past. Today, we'll become rock detectives and learn how to describe the amazing rocks God created!
Rocks have special properties we can observe. Just like God made each of us unique, He created rocks with different characteristics!
Students will carefully examine rock samples, recording their observations
Simpler: Focus on color and basic texture
Challenge: Create a detailed rock classification chart
Share your rock discoveries! What surprised you about the rocks you observed?
Coming up: Tomorrow, we'll explore how fire creates igneous rocks!
This lesson introduces scientific observation skills using rocks as a learning tool
Children might get frustrated if they can't immediately identify rock properties
Careful observation, curiosity, and careful recording of findings
