Learning Objectives

1

Write clear scientific conclusions based on experimental evidence

2

Create a presentation to share scientific findings

3

Practice communicating scientific discoveries

Proverbs 15:23

A man has joy in an apt answer. How good is a timely word!

Proverbs 15:23 (WEB)

Just as scientists carefully communicate discoveries, we can share God's truth with wisdom and clarity

📦 Materials Needed

  • Science journals
  • Colored markers
  • Poster board
  • Graph paper
  • Presentation supplies

Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

Gather students and review their scientific investigation process from previous days. Remind them that sharing scientific discoveries is an important part of learning.

💭 Review Question: What was the most interesting thing you discovered during your experiment?
2Teaching (10 min)

Teach students how to write clear scientific conclusions by connecting their observations to their original question and explaining what their evidence shows.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Conclusions should answer the original scientific question
  • Use specific data from your experiment
  • Explain what your results mean
  • Be honest about what you learned
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • How do scientists share what they learn?
  • Why is it important to communicate scientific discoveries?
  • How can we use our scientific skills to understand God's amazing world?
3Activity: Science Discovery Posters (10 min)
Presentation Preparation

Students will create colorful posters explaining their scientific investigation, including their question, procedure, data, and conclusions.

📝 Instructions:
  1. Review your science journal
  2. Create a clear, colorful poster
  3. Include your scientific question
  4. Show your data with graphs or charts
  5. Write a conclusion paragraph
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Create a simple three-section poster with pictures

Challenge: Add additional research or potential future experiments

4Closing (5 min)

Allow students to share their posters with each other, practicing presentation skills and scientific communication.

📝 Review Questions:
  • What did you learn about your topic?
  • What surprised you during your experiment?
  • How can scientific discoveries help us understand God's creation?
🙏 Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for giving us curious minds to explore and understand Your wonderful world. Help us always use our knowledge to glorify You. Amen.

Coming up: Next week, we'll explore how scientists collaborate and share discoveries

Colossians 3:17

Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Colossians 3:17 (WEB)

🎯 Activity: Hand motions representing 'whatever you do'

Teaching Notes

📚 Background:

Students are learning to communicate scientific findings clearly and confidently

💡 Teaching Tips:
  • Encourage precise language
  • Help students connect observations to conclusions
  • Celebrate curiosity and careful thinking
🤔 Common Struggles:

Children might find it challenging to translate raw data into clear explanations

👀 Signs of Understanding:

Clear connections between experimental data and conclusions

Extension Activities

  • Create a digital slideshow of the scientific investigation
  • Record a short video explaining the experiment
  • Share findings with another class or science fair
