Celebration and Looking Forward
Understand that God is sovereign over all history
Recognize God's providence in historical events
Reflect on how we are part of God's ongoing story
“In whom also we were assigned an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his will,”
— Ephesians 1:11 (WEB)God has a plan and purpose in all of history
Gather students in a circle and remind them that today is their final history lesson of the year. Explain that history is really 'His Story' - God's story of how He works in the world.
Throughout the year, we've learned about many civilizations and events. Each story shows how God is working in the world. Just like a big puzzle, God connects every piece of history to show His love and plan.
Create a class poster showing how different historical events connect to show God's plan
Simpler: Draw simple pictures instead of detailed notes
Challenge: Include specific biblical references for each event
Remind students that they are part of God's continuing story, and He has amazing plans for each of them.
Dear God, thank You for being in control of all history. Help us trust Your amazing plan and be part of Your story. Amen.
Coming up: Next year, we'll explore American history and see how God worked through our nation's beginnings!
“For I know the plans I have for you, says Yahweh, plans for peace, and not for evil, to give you hope and a future.”
— Jeremiah 29:11 (WEB)🎯 Activity: Draw a picture showing God's plans
This lesson helps children understand that history is not random, but part of God's purposeful plan.
Children might find it hard to see God's plan in complex historical events
Curiosity about how God works in the world
Great job completing today's lesson!
