Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

Show picture of Egyptian pyramid. Ask students what they know about pyramids and pharaohs.

💭 Review Question: Why do you think people built such big buildings long ago?
2Teaching (10 min)

Pharaohs were considered god-kings in ancient Egypt. They believed pharaohs were divine and would become gods after death. Pyramids were giant tombs to protect the pharaoh's body and treasures for the afterlife.

  • Pharaohs ruled as both political and religious leaders
  • Pyramids took many years to build
  • Thousands of workers constructed these massive structures

3Activity: Sugar Cube Pyramid Building (10 min)

Students will construct a small pyramid using sugar cubes and glue

📝 Instructions:
  1. Draw pyramid base on cardboard
  2. Start with largest layer of sugar cubes
  3. Each layer gets smaller
  4. Use white glue to connect cubes
  5. Create 4-5 layers
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Pre-mark cube placement

Challenge: Calculate precise measurements for each layer

4Closing (5 min)

Discuss how God's plans are greater than human achievements
