Gather students in a circle. Ask them to share one way someone has helped them recently. Explain that today we'll learn about serving our community.
Discuss different ways people can serve their community: helping neighbors, cleaning up parks, making care packages, helping at church events.
Students create care packages for local seniors or shelter residents
Simpler: Pre-select and provide all package items
Challenge: Students research specific community needs and design packages accordingly
Reflect on how serving others demonstrates God's love
Dear Jesus, help us to love and serve others the way You taught us. Show us ways we can help our community. Amen.
Coming up: Next week, we'll explore more ways to be good citizens
“through love serve one another”
