Matthew 7:24-27

Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock. The rain came down, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it didn't fall, for it was founded on the rock.

💭 Review Question: What did we learn yesterday about how to treat others?
2Teaching (8 min)

Jesus tells a story about two builders - one wise, one foolish - to teach us about the importance of obeying His words

📌 Key Talking Points:

  • The foolish builder hears but doesn't follow through
  • Our actions reveal our true foundation
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What makes a foundation strong?
  • How can we 'build' our life on Jesus' teachings?
3Activity: Foundation Challenge (10 min)
hands-on demonstration

Build two small structures - one on a solid surface, one on sand - to demonstrate the parable

📝 Instructions:
  1. Use building blocks to create two houses
  2. Place one house on a solid table (rock foundation)
  3. Place another house on loose sand
  4. Simulate wind and rain by gently shaking the surfaces
  5. Observe which house remains standing
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Help child build houses, focus on observation

Challenge: Let child design and explain the experiment

4Closing (3 min)

Review the lesson's key points about obedience and spiritual foundations

📝 Review Questions:
  • What happened to the houses in Jesus' story?
  • How can we build our life on God's words?
🙏 Prayer:

Dear Jesus, help us not just hear Your words, but do them

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll explore how the Holy Spirit helps us live out God's teachings

Matthew 7:12

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Matthew 7:12 (WEB)
