Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

Review yesterday's opinion draft. Remind students that good writers always look for ways to make their writing clearer and more interesting.

💭 Review Question: What was the opinion you wrote about yesterday?
2Teaching (7 min)

Today we'll learn how to make our reasons stronger by adding more details. Good writers always try to explain their thoughts more clearly.

  1. Take out your opinion draft from yesterday
  2. Use colored pencils to circle your reasons
  3. For each reason, write 1-2 more details
  4. Use the questions: Who? What? When? Where? Why?

Challenge: Add specific examples to support each reason

Share your improved draft with a partner and tell them one thing you made stronger.
