Narrative Writing: Stories with Sequence

Understand the importance of story sequence
Recognize how stories have a clear structure
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
— Genesis 1:1 (WEB)Just like stories have a clear beginning, God's story of creation has a clear sequence of events
Gather students in a circle and explain that today we're going on a story treasure hunt to discover how stories are put together
Explain that every story has three main parts: beginning, middle, and end. These parts help us understand what's happening and keep the story organized.
Students will arrange story sequence cards to create a complete story
Simpler: Use fewer cards with clearer differences
Challenge: Use more complex story sequences
Review what we learned about story structure
Dear Jesus, thank you for helping us understand how stories work. Help us to tell stories that honor You.
Coming up: Tomorrow we'll learn special words that help us tell stories in order
“Commit your works to Yahweh, and your plans will be established.”
— Proverbs 16:3 (WEB)🎯 Activity: Act out the verse with hand motions
