Gather students in a circle and explain that today we'll learn about dialogue - the special words characters say in stories.
Dialogue is when we see exactly what a character is saying, using their own words. We'll use quotation marks to show these special words.
Students will listen to a short story and identify dialogue using colored sticky notes
Simpler: Teacher marks dialogues first, students observe
