Gather students and show a large US map. Ask them what they know about the middle of the United States.
Explain that the Midwest is the heart of America, with states like Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. These states are known for farming, flat lands called prairies, and being very important for growing food.
Create a colorful map highlighting Midwest states with stickers and markers
Simpler: Pre-color Midwest states, students just add stickers
Challenge: Students research and add interesting Midwest facts to their maps
