Show children cotton bolls and explain how they grow. Ask students what they know about farming.
Explain how cotton was a major crop in the Southeast, grown on large farms called plantations. Discuss how farmers work hard to grow food and take care of the land.
Students will create a farm scene coloring page and glue cotton balls to represent cotton plants.
Simpler: Pre-glue some cotton for younger students
