Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

Show children cotton bolls and explain how they grow. Ask students what they know about farming.

Explain how cotton was a major crop in the Southeast, grown on large farms called plantations. Discuss how farmers work hard to grow food and take care of the land.
