Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

Show the American flag and ask children what they know about Independence Day. Explain that it's a special day when America became its own country.

2Teaching (10 min)

In 1776, brave people called the Founding Fathers decided they wanted to be free from England's rule. They wrote a special document called the Declaration of Independence to say they wanted to create their own country where people could be free.
