Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

Gather students in a circle and explain that today we'll learn about how one thing can make another thing happen - called cause and effect.

💭 Review Question: Can you think of something you did today that made something else happen?
2Teaching (8 min)

Cause is WHY something happens, and effect is WHAT happens as a result. Like when you push a domino, it makes the next domino fall.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Everything happens for a reason
  • Actions have consequences
  • God is in control of all events
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What might happen if you don't eat breakfast?
  • How does being kind affect other people?
3Activity: Domino Cause and Effect Chain (8 min)
hands-on

Students will create a domino chain demonstrating cause and effect

📝 Instructions:
  1. Set up dominos in a line
  2. Explain how pushing the first domino causes all others to fall
  3. Let students take turns pushing the first domino
  4. Discuss what they observed
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Help students set up shorter domino chains

Challenge: Create more complex domino patterns

4Closing (4 min)

Review what we learned about cause and effect

📝 Review Questions:
  • What is a cause?
  • What is an effect?
  • Can you give an example?
🙏 Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for helping us understand how events are connected. Help us make good choices that help others.
