Recognize that different regions have different resources
Learn how trade helps communities work together
“All countries came into Egypt to Joseph to buy grain, because the famine was severe in all the earth.”
— Genesis 41:57 (WEB)Shows how trade helps people survive and work together during challenging times
Gather students in a circle and show a world map. Ask students to point to their favorite place and share what they know about that location.
Explain how different places have different resources that people need. Use simple examples like how bananas grow in warm places but not cold places, or how some areas have lots of wood while others have minerals.
Create simple trading cards representing different resources. Students will trade to collect a complete set of resources.
Simpler: Use fewer types of resource cards
Challenge: Add special rule cards that make trading more complex
Recap how trading helps people work together and share God's gifts
Dear God, thank you for creating a world where we can help each other and share your wonderful resources. Amen.
Coming up: Tomorrow we'll learn how resources become the products we use!
“People will curse him who withholds grain, but blessing will be on the head of him who sells it.”
