Gather students in a circle and show examples of simple repeating patterns. Ask students to clap out a simple rhythm to demonstrate the idea of repetition.
Explain how patterns are created by repeating shapes, colors, or lines in a consistent way. Demonstrate creating AB, ABC, and ABCD patterns on the board.
Students will create their own repeating patterns using shapes and colors
Simpler: Use only two colors in an AB pattern
Challenge: Create a more complex ABCD pattern with four different elements
Share patterns and discuss how each is unique
