Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

Gather students and review the week's lessons about unity in art. Ask students to share what they've learned about how different parts of an artwork can work together.

💭 Review Question: What does unity mean in art?
2Teaching (7 min)

Today we'll create an artwork where everything works together, just like God's family works together. We'll use repetition of shapes, a limited color palette, and a clear theme.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Unity means all parts of artwork look like they belong together
  • We can create unity by repeating colors or shapes
  • Choosing a clear theme helps artwork feel connected
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What theme might you want to draw?
  • How can you make different parts of your artwork look like they belong together?
3Activity: My Unified Artwork (10 min)
hands-on project

Students will create an artwork showing unity through color, repetition, and theme

📝 Instructions:
  1. Choose a theme (like sea creatures, garden, or Jesus's love)
  2. Select 3-4 colors to use throughout your artwork
  3. Draw your theme, making sure to repeat shapes or colors
  4. Color carefully and think about how everything connects
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Use fewer colors, focus on one main shape

Challenge: Include a pattern or texture that repeats throughout artwork

4Closing (3 min)

Share artworks and discuss how each person created unity

📝 Review Questions:
  • What theme did you choose?
  • How did you make your artwork feel connected?
  • What did you learn about unity today?
🙏 Prayer:

Dear Jesus, thank you for showing us how different parts can work together in love and harmony. Help us create beautiful things that reflect Your creativity.
