💭 Review Question: Can you point to something in the front of this picture?
2Teaching (10 min)

Explain how artists create pictures with three main areas: foreground (closest to viewer), middle ground (in the middle), and background (farthest away).

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Foreground is closest and usually largest
  • Middle ground is in between
  • Background looks smaller and farther away
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What do you see in the foreground of this picture?
  • How can you tell something is far away?
3Activity: Layer Landscape Collage (7 min)
hands-on

Create a simple landscape showing three layers using cut paper

📝 Instructions:
  1. Cut a background landscape piece in soft colors
  2. Cut medium-sized objects for middle ground
  3. Cut larger objects for foreground
  4. Glue layers from back to front
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Use pre-cut shapes for younger artists

Challenge: Add details and texture to each layer

4Closing (3 min)

Share artwork and discuss how each picture shows different layers

📝 Review Questions:
  • What is in the foreground of your picture?
  • What did you put in the background?
🙏 Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for creating a beautiful world with so many amazing details. Help us see the wonder in your creation.
