2Teaching (5 min)

Texture is how something feels when you touch it. God made the world with so many different textures - rough, smooth, bumpy, soft.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Textures are everywhere
  • We can feel texture with our fingers
  • We can also draw textures we see
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What are some textures you like to touch?
  • Where do you see different textures in nature?
3Activity: Texture Rubbing Collection (10 min)
hands-on exploration

Students will collect texture rubbings from various surfaces around inside and outside the classroom or home.

📝 Instructions:
  1. Place paper over a textured surface
  2. Hold crayon sideways
  3. Gently rub crayon over paper
  4. Watch the texture appear on your paper
  5. Collect at least 5 different rubbings
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Help students find and rub very obvious textures

Challenge: Find more subtle or complex textures to rub

4Closing (5 min)

Share texture rubbings and talk about how God creates amazing textures in His world

📝 Review Questions:
  • What was your favorite texture you found?
  • How many different textures did you discover?
🙏 Prayer:

Dear Jesus, thank You for creating such a wonderful world with so many beautiful textures for us to discover and enjoy.

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll learn how to draw different textures with our pencils!
