Explore texture through sensory observation
“Yahweh, how many are your works! In wisdom have you made them all. The earth is full of your creatures.”
— Psalm 104:24 (WEB)God created amazing textures in the world around us
Gather students in a circle. Explain that today we'll explore how God made things with different textures.
Introduce the two types of texture: real texture (what you can feel) and visual texture (what looks like it would feel a certain way).
Students will explore different textures by touch, guessing what they're feeling
Simpler: Reduce number of objects in the box
Challenge: Ask students to describe the texture using descriptive words
Recap how God created wonderful textures all around us
Dear God, thank You for making such amazing textures in Your world. Help us notice and appreciate the wonderful things You've created.
Coming up: Tomorrow we'll go on a texture hunt and make crayon rubbings!
