“God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. Evening came and morning came, the sixth day.”
— Genesis 1:31 (WEB)God created shapes in nature with incredible variety and beauty
Gather students and show various images of shapes found in nature and man-made objects. Ask students to describe what they see.
Explain the difference between geometric shapes (perfect circles, squares, triangles) and organic shapes (free-form, natural shapes that aren't perfectly symmetrical)
Students will cut out and sort shapes from magazines into geometric and organic categories, then create a collage showing both types of shapes
Simpler: Pre-cut shapes for younger students
Challenge: Create a story about the shapes they find
Discuss how God creates amazing shapes in nature
Dear God, thank you for creating such beautiful and interesting shapes in the world around us. Help us to see your creativity everywhere.
Coming up: Tomorrow we'll explore how shapes can overlap to create interesting pictures!
“How many are your works, Yahweh! In wisdom have you made them all. The earth is full of your creatures.”
— Psalm 104:24 (WEB)🎯 Activity: Shape Tracing Memory Game
