Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse art adventure! Let's review what we've learned about weaving this week and get excited about our circular weaving project.

💭 Review Question: What did we learn about weaving patterns in our last lesson?
2Teaching (10 min)

Today, we'll transform a simple paper plate into a beautiful circular weaving that shows God's creativity through art.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Circular weaving is different from straight weaving
  • We'll create a loom using a paper plate
  • Choosing colors that work well together
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • How might different colors change the look of our weaving?
  • What patterns can we create?
3Activity: Circular Weaving Design (15 min)
hands-on project

Create a beautiful circular weaving using a paper plate loom

📝 Instructions:
  1. Divide paper plate into 8-12 equal sections
  2. Cut small notches at each section's edge
  3. Tie first yarn color to center of plate
  4. Weave yarn over and under, moving around the circular loom
  5. Change colors as desired to create interesting patterns
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Use fewer notches and only 2 yarn colors

Challenge: Create a more complex pattern with 4-5 different yarn colors

4Closing (5 min)

Display and discuss our beautiful circular weavings

📝 Review Questions:
  • What was the most challenging part of weaving?
  • How does our art reflect God's creativity?

Coming up: Tomorrow, we'll explore fabric collage art and continue our fiber arts journey!
