Lesson Plan

1Opening (3 min)

Welcome to today's BibleMouse Science adventure! Yesterday we explored ocean habitats, and today we'll discover the amazing world of grasslands and deserts.

💭 Review Question: What animals did we learn about in the ocean habitat?
2Teaching (10 min)

Today, we'll explore two special habitats where animals have learned to survive in challenging conditions.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Grasslands are wide, open areas with lots of grass and few trees
  • Deserts are very dry places with little water
  • Animals in these habitats have special ways of staying safe and finding food
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What do you think makes a desert different from a forest?
  • How might an animal stay cool in a hot desert?
3Activity: Habitat Survival Game (12 min)
exploration

Create animal adaptation cards showing how creatures survive in grasslands and deserts

📝 Instructions:
  1. Look at the habitat pictures
  2. Choose an animal from the animal cards
  3. Draw how that animal survives in its habitat
  4. Share your drawing with family
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Use pre-drawn animal cards to color

Challenge: Write a short sentence about the animal's survival strategy

4Closing (3 min)

Let's remember that God created these amazing habitats and the wonderful animals that live in them!
