Identify different stages of animal life cycles
Compare complete and incomplete metamorphosis
Understand how God designs living things to grow and change
“God said, 'Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with seed in them, on the earth'; and it was so.”
— Genesis 1:11 (WEB)God creates living things with unique ways of growing and reproducing
Gather students in a circle and show various life cycle pictures. Ask them to share what they know about how animals grow.
Explain how different animals have unique life cycles. Some go through complete metamorphosis (like butterflies) with big changes, while others have incomplete metamorphosis with smaller changes.
Students will sort life cycle cards into correct order and categorize by type of metamorphosis.
Simpler: Pre-sort some cards to help students
Challenge: Ask students to draw their own life cycle diagram
Reflect on how wonderfully God creates different ways for animals to grow
Dear God, thank You for creating such amazing ways for Your creatures to grow and change. Help us appreciate the wonderful design in nature.
Coming up: Tomorrow we'll explore how animals live together in food chains!
“I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.”
— Psalm 139:14 (WEB)🎯 Activity: Whisper verse while making growth motion with hands
