Learning Objectives

1

Identify different types of water bodies

2

Understand how water shapes the earth

3

Recognize God's design in water systems

Genesis 1:10

God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. God saw that it was good.

Genesis 1:10 (WEB)

Shows how God intentionally created water bodies and land

📦 Materials Needed

  • Blue construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • World map
  • Blue and green crayons
  • Small spray bottle with water

Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

Gather students and ask them to share any water they've seen recently - rivers, lakes, puddles.

💭 Review Question: What water bodies do you know?
2Teaching (10 min)

Explain different water bodies: oceans, lakes, rivers, streams. Use world map to show locations.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • Oceans are very large water areas
  • Lakes are water surrounded by land
  • Rivers flow from high to low places
  • God designed water to move and support life
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • Where have you seen water moving?
  • How do animals use water?
  • Why do you think God made different water places?
3Activity: Water Landscape Creation (7 min)
hands-on

Students create a water landscape using paper and drawing/cutting water features

📝 Instructions:
  1. Draw land on blue construction paper
  2. Cut out blue paper shapes for water bodies
  3. Glue water features onto landscape
  4. Use spray bottle to simulate water movement
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Provide pre-cut water shapes

Challenge: Add small clay landforms around water

4Closing (3 min)

Review water types and thank God for creating beautiful water systems

📝 Review Questions:
  • What water bodies did we learn about?
  • How does water help living things?
  • What was your favorite part of today's lesson?
🙏 Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for creating amazing water systems that help all Your creatures live and grow. Amen.

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll build a 3D landform model!

Psalm 104:10

He sends the springs into the valleys. They run among the hills.
