Proverbs 15:22

Without counsel, plans go wrong; but with many advisors, they are established.

Proverbs 15:22 (WEB)

Just like a graph shows multiple pieces of information working together, this verse teaches us about the value of gathering multiple perspectives

📦 Materials Needed

  • Graph paper
  • Colored crayons
  • Sticky notes
  • Pencil
  • BibleMouse Data Collection Sheet

Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

Today in BibleMouse math, we'll learn how pictures can help us understand information! Remember how we sorted things yesterday? Now we'll use pictures to show what we learned.

💭 Review Question: Can you tell me about something you sorted yesterday?
2Teaching (10 min)

A picture graph is like a special way of telling a story with pictures. Each picture stands for one thing we're counting.

📌 Key Talking Points:
  • One picture = One item
  • We line up pictures to see how many of something we have
  • Pictures make it easy to understand information quickly
💬 Discussion Questions:
  • What are some things we could count?
  • How might pictures help us understand numbers?
3Activity: Favorite Fruits Picture Graph (12 min)
hands-on

Create a class picture graph showing favorite fruits

📝 Instructions:
  1. Choose 4 different fruits
  2. Draw a graph with fruit names at bottom
  3. Each student draws one picture of their favorite fruit
  4. Count how many pictures for each fruit
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Use pre-drawn fruit stickers instead of drawing

Challenge: Add a total count for each fruit type

4Closing (3 min)

Let's look at our fruit graph and see what we learned!

📝 Review Questions:
  • What fruit did most people like?
  • How many pictures are on our graph?

Coming up: Tomorrow we'll learn about bar graphs and how they're similar to picture graphs!
