Lesson Plan

1Opening (5 min)

Gather students in a circle and ask them to share about a special day they remember. Encourage them to think about what made the day special.

2Teaching (7 min)

Today we will write about a special day in our lives. Remember to include three important parts: the beginning (who was there, where were you), the middle (what happened), and the end (how did you feel).

  • Include details that help others imagine your day
  • Think about a day that made you happy or excited

3Activity: My Special Day Narrative (10 min)
project

Students will write and illustrate a personal narrative about a special day using their graphic organizer.

📝 Instructions:
  1. Draw a line down the middle of your paper
  2. On the left side, write the beginning of your story
  3. In the middle, write what happened during the day
  4. On the right side, write how the day ended
  5. Use crayons to add a colorful illustration
🔄 Variations:

Simpler: Draw pictures to tell the story if writing is challenging

Challenge: Add dialogue or more descriptive details

4Closing (3 min)

Share one or two stories with the class and celebrate everyone's special day.
